Guidelines for Student Use and Introduction

Blog Mission Statement:

Welcome to my technology and teaching blog. The world is a fast paced and ever changing place. Every day new discoveries are made and similarly new technologies are placed into the hands of people everywhere. As a result, technology natives are now populating our classrooms. As a future teacher, I have taken it upon myself to become a technology expert so that I can better educate my students. This blog will follow my exploits through teacher training, and eventually my future teaching placements. Through this lens I will place an emphasis on technology and how it can be used in the classroom.

About Me:

My name is Chelsie, and I’m currently enrolled in the University of Connecticut’s Teaching Certification Program for College Graduates. I am working towards my Master’s degree in Secondary English Education, as well as my Connecticut Teacher’s Certification. As an avid technology user, I find it of great importance to stay current with the new innovations in our world. As an experienced graphic designer, I’ve always been an advocate for the importance of technology. Now as I continue towards my future career as a teacher, I look to incorporate this knowledge into my classroom.

Student Guidelines:

Welcome students! As part of your grade you will be required to blog at least once a week for class. Create a blogger account and then “follow” my blog. I’ll follow you return. Weekly assignments will be posted on my blog. You will complete these assignments in posts on your blog. Also be sure to comment on other student’s blogs. I’ll be posting discussion questions within my blog for all students to respond to as well. Be sure to reply to these at least once per post!

Online Etiquette:

  • As digital citizens, it is important to practice good online etiquette. Here are some rules for you to follow in your blogs.
  • Use appropriate language: no swearing!
  • Be kind and respectful: Treat others as you wish to be treated.
  • Use proper spelling and grammar: that means not using chat speak, and writing in full sentences.
  • Keep your information private: Set your blog permissions to private through the blogger dashboard (settings->permissions). Also, don't put your full name, phone number, or any revealing information on your blog.
